john_connell_photoAfter graduating from the University of Manchester with a BSc (Hons), I completed a DPhil in oncology at the University of Oxford in a project focussing on enhancing and then detecting the delivery of therapeutic compounds to brain metastases in a mouse model.  This work involved a range of preclinical imaging techniques and measures of therapeutic outcome.  I have recently joined the UKRMP Safety Hub as a postdoctoral researcher in a group led by Dr Tammy Kalber and Prof Mark Lythgoe at University College London to develop novel translatable MRI techniques to provide a means of screening the progression of liver fibrosis.  This will subsequently be used to assess the effects of stem cell therapy.
