After completing my BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Baghdad in 2001, I worked as a teaching assistant in the Department of Pharmaceutics for several years. In 2011, I completed an MSc in Drug Delivery with Distinction from the School of Pharmacy, University of London. My research project was carried out in the Nanomedicine Lab and involved the development of liposome-gold nanoparticle hybrids for optical imaging and theranostic applications. In 2012, I was awarded the Overseas Research Scholarship (ORS) Award from the University of London for perusing PhD studies at the UCL School of Pharmacy. I relocated with the Nanomedicine Lab to the University of Manchester to continue my PhD, awarded in April, 2016. My thesis focused on the development of graphene oxide derivatives for biomedical applications. Since January 2016 I am the Imaging Scientist of the Nanomedicine Lab focusing on the utilisation of various whole-body imaging modalities and since then I joined the UKRMP Safety Hub, exploring in vivo tracking of labelled cells.
